How do I log my kart setup?

Last updated: January 30, 2026

Logging your kart setup in Track Mode is designed to be fast and intuitive – perfect for trackside conditions. Here's exactly how to do it, step by step.

Step-by-Step: Logging Your First Setup

1.

Open Track Mode on Your Phone

Navigate to Race Ninja and tap Track Mode in the menu. Works in any mobile browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox).

2.

Let It Detect Your Track

If location services are enabled, we'll automatically detect which track you're at. If not, tap Select Track and choose from the list.

Can't find your track? Let us know via the support link below – we add new tracks regularly.

3.

Tap "Log Setup"

You'll see a form with the most common setup parameters. Don't worry – you only fill out what's relevant to you.

4.

Enter Your Baseline Setup

The essentials we recommend logging:

  • Tyre pressures (hot): Front left, front right, rear left, rear right
  • Carburetor settings: High jet, low jet, needle position (if applicable)
  • Seat position: Distance from pedals, angle, any spacers
  • Caster/camber: Front-end alignment settings
  • Axle width: Rear track width setting
  • Notes: Weather, track temp, tire compound, or anything else worth remembering
5.

Save and You're Done

Tap Save Setup. That's your baseline for the day. Now you can log changes as you make them.

Pro tip: Take a photo of your setup sheet (if you use one) and attach it to the notes. You'll have both digital data and a visual reference.

Logging Setup Changes Between Sessions

This is where Track Mode shines. After your first session, you probably made adjustments. Here's how to log them:

  1. Tap Quick Change (not "Log Setup" – that's for full baseline entries)
  2. Select which parameters you adjusted:
    • Changed rear axle width? Update that field.
    • Increased tire pressures? Enter new hot pressures.
    • Tweaked carb needle? Log the new position.
  3. Add a quick note like "Dropped 0.2s – kart better in high-speed corners"
  4. Save

Track Mode creates a timestamped history of changes, so you can see exactly when you made each adjustment and how it correlated with lap times (once you upload videos later).

Why this matters: Most drivers make 3-5 changes in a track day. Without logging, you'll forget which combo produced your best lap. Track Mode remembers for you.

Reviewing Setup History

After a few sessions (or track days), you'll have a rich database of setups. Here's how to use it:

  • 📋
    View by Date:

Scroll through chronological setup entries. See what you ran on any given day.

  • 🔍
    Filter by Track:

Only show setups from specific circuits. Perfect when returning to a track you visited months ago.

  • ⚖️
    Compare Setups:

Select two entries and see a side-by-side diff. Identify which changes led to faster laps.

  • 🏁
    Link to Lap Times:

When you upload videos, we cross-reference setup timestamps with session times, so you can see which setup produced which laps.

Common Workflows

Scenario Track Mode Workflow
Testing tyre pressures Log baseline → Quick Change after each session → Compare setups to find optimal hot pressure
Different weather conditions Log setup with weather notes → Search history for similar conditions next time
Chassis tuning day Baseline → Multiple Quick Changes → Review at end of day to see which direction was faster
Race weekend Friday: log practice setup → Saturday: refine based on Friday data → Sunday: quick ref to confirmed fast setup

Don't skip hot pressures! Cold pressures are useful, but hot pressures (measured right after coming off track) are what actually matter for performance. Make this a habit.

Note: Track Mode saves locally and syncs to your account when you have internet. If you're at a remote track with no signal, your data will sync when you're back online.
