Can You Trust a Karting Analytics Platform with Your GoPro Data?
Your Race Ninja analysis is locked to your account. Nobody else can see your video, telemetry, or racing lines. Analyses are private by default. Support access requires your explicit permission and triggers a notification every time.
I get asked this a lot. And I think it's a fair question.
You're uploading GoPro or DJI footage of yourself racing. That footage has GPS data in it. It knows where you were, when you were there, and how fast you were going. So yeah. Who's looking at it?
Short answer. Nobody but you.
Who am I and why should you care?
I'm a Data Engineer and Data Scientist for a global logistics company. Some of the biggest brands and entities you can think of trust me with their data. That's my career. It pays my mortgage and feeds my kids. I'm not about to compromise 15+ years of professional credibility for a few tenths around a kart track.
What happens when you upload
When you upload to Race Ninja, your analysis is locked to your account. I can't see your video. I can't see your telemetry. I can't see your racing line or your braking points or your lap times. I see server logs. That's it. If something goes wrong with your processing, the logs tell me where it broke so I can fix it. But your actual data? That's yours.
If I ever need to look at your analysis to debug something (like a GPS trace issue or a video rendering bug) I literally cannot do it without your permission. You raise a ticket, you tell the system you're happy for me to view it, and only then does it let me in. And when I do look, you get a notification. Every time. That's hard coded. I can't turn it off even if I wanted to.
Private by default
Your analyses are also private by default. You can choose to share them publicly if you want (and you get a free credit back if you do). But that's your choice. Not mine.
And I'm going further. I'm scoping a personal data vault feature where users can lock their analysis packs with a key that only they know. Fully encrypted, fully locked. Not even I will be able to access it. It'll come with warnings because if you vault your data, I can't help you with detailed support requests. But some people will want that level of control and I think they should have it.
Why I built this
Look. I built Race Ninja because my son races karts and I wanted to give him better tools to improve his consistency and find lap time. I shared it because other people in our team wanted the same thing. I'm a karting dad who happens to be good with data. That's the whole story.
If you're comfortable uploading your session footage and getting the telemetry analysis, the racing line breakdowns, the corner speed data, and the AI coaching insights back, brilliant. I think you'll love it.
If you're not comfortable, that's fine too. I get it. No hard feelings.
But if data privacy is the thing holding you back from giving it a go, I hope this helps.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Race Ninja staff see my uploaded videos?
No. Your analysis is locked to your account. If a support issue needs someone to look at your data, you have to explicitly grant permission through the ticket system. You get a notification every time someone accesses it.
Are my race analyses shared publicly?
No. Everything is private by default. You can choose to share an analysis publicly (and you get a free credit back if you do), but it's entirely your choice.
What GPS data does Race Ninja extract from my GoPro?
Race Ninja extracts the GPMF telemetry stream embedded in your GoPro footage. That includes GPS coordinates, speed, and accelerometer data. It's used to calculate lap times, racing lines, braking points, and sector splits. The data stays in your account and isn't shared with anyone.
