Common questions about kart data analysis
What is the best app for kart racing data analysis?
Depends what question you're asking. MyChron or Alfano software is right for engine and live dash channels. Race Ninja is right for lap times, sector splits, racing lines and coaching from the onboard footage, with analysis packs that put the proof on film. Best answer for a lot of club drivers is both, not one or the other.
How do I analyse my karting video?
Upload it. If your camera recorded GPS, Race Ninja splits the session into laps, times every sector, draws your racing line and writes coaching notes against the exact moments on film. You watch the lap and read what cost you time at the same time.
Do I need a data logger like MyChron or Alfano?
Not for the camera path. A GoPro with GPS on (or DJI with the remote) is enough for lap and sector analysis. Those dashes are still excellent for live RPM, temps and in-kart timing. Keep them. If you run Alfano or AiM, import the session file so engine data enriches the same video debrief.
Does it work for club racing and owner-drivers, not just pros?
That's exactly who it's for. Club racers, cadets and parents, owner-drivers testing on a Saturday. If the footage has GPS in it, you get a serious analysis pack without a data engineer in the awning.
Can I compare myself against other drivers?
Yes. Leaderboards show verified lap times from real footage at your circuit, so you can see where you stand in your class. Every time on the board comes from onboard video, not typed in by hand.
