Pick a HUD look. Then burn it onto the lap

The speed on your lap used to be a block of digits. Fine if you only wanted the number. Not if you wanted the clip to look like something you'd actually share.

The Video Editor now has extra HUD looks. Donut gauges that fill as you pick up speed. LED ladders for Power. Speed bars that light like a pit wall. You pick one, drag it, and the file you download is that picture.

What you can put on the clip

Speed gets a donut, a ring, ticks, or a number in the hole. There's a horizontal bar too, in a few fills: a solid rail, colour segments, LEDs, even a broadcast strip with the number sat off to the side.

Power and Braking gets the old pill, a horizontal bar, a tick strip, or an 8-cell ladder. The ladder is the one people keep switching on. Green climbs. Red drops. Same scale as before, just a different face.

Also, checkout "Ash Mode" where you can put a 16:9 video on a 9:16 format video (TikTok/Instagram friendly) with your data, speed, forces or sponsors in the black bars that surround the video. All from within the video editor.

Then you make it yours

The style dropdown is only the start. Change the font. Change the colour of the numbers. Switch the background panel on or off, pick the colour, knock the opacity back if it's shouting. Drag it. Size it. MPH or KPH.

HUD themes still restyle the kit if you want the whole set to match. The watermark moves and resizes too. You won't turn every gauge on at once. That's a mess. Pick the one that matches the story of that lap, then dress it.

You don't strap a second GPS box to the kart

A lot of track day overlays start with a little performance meter on the dash, then an app that burns speed and G-force onto the phone clip. That's extra kit to charge, and extra pairing.

Race Ninja reads the GPS already in the GoPro or DJI file. Same upload you use for lap times. The overlay sits on the analysis, not instead of it.

You're in the pack. You want the clip to show how hard you were on the brakes into that left. Switch the power meter to ladder. Park a donut in the sky. Keep the Race Ninja watermark on the seat so people know the time's real.

Try it on a session sitting in your garage

Open a results page you've already got. Hit Video Editor. The new looks are in the style dropdown on the donut, the speed bar and the power meter. Change the font and the colour while you're there. Render one lap and hold it next to the preview.

If the camera didn't log GPS, check the camera list before you waste a card. And if you cut in DaVinci or Premiere, the transparent overlay from a couple of weeks ago still sits under this. This update is the look of the HUD, not the editor format. Weather from that lap is still in the tray too, from last week's overlay drop.
