Sharper transparent overlays for DaVinci and Premiere
Race Ninja's new Editor format renders transparent overlays as lossless QuickTime Animation, so edges stay sharp in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere and any editor.
If you cut your own race videos, this one's for you.
You can already export a Race Ninja overlay with a transparent background and lay it straight over your own footage. Some of you told us the edges came out rough once they landed in DaVinci Resolve, little jagged fringes around the track map and the numbers. We looked into it, and it was baked into the old transparent format. So we built a better one.
Meet the Editor format
There's a new choice in the Video Editor called Editor (MOV). Pick it and your overlay renders as QuickTime Animation, a format made for exactly this. Edges stay sharp. Colours don't smear. It drops into DaVinci Resolve and Premiere and just behaves.
Reach for this one whenever you're layering our telemetry over your own footage and you care how it looks up close. It's lossless too, so you're not fighting compression on top of everything else in your edit.
Test your layout for free
Placing overlays is fiddly. You nudge the speed readout, shift the track map, render the lot, then spot the lap counter sitting over your driver's helmet.
Now you can try before you commit. Render a single lap in a transparent format and it won't cost you a render credit. Do that up to ten times on a session while you get everything where you want it. Once it looks right, render all your laps as normal.
What about green screen?
The old green-screen MP4 is bowing out. The new Editor format does the same job and does it better, so keeping both didn't make sense. Built a workflow around green screen and you'll miss it? Tell us on Discord and we'll help you move across.
Give the Editor format a run on your next session. If anything looks off in your editor, send us a screenshot on Discord and we'll get it sorted.

The engine wasn't giving him the kick
Roman was driving well. The engine wasn't. We borrowed one and broke into the 39s. Engine insights now sit on the same lap as the camera so you can see a drop-off instead of guessing.
Pick a HUD look. Then burn it onto the lap
The Video Editor now has extra looks for the HUD you burn onto a lap. Donut gauges, LED ladders and speed overlays, with font, colour, background and size you set yourself from the GPS your camera already logged.
Your whole DJI session now counts, every chapter
DJI splits long recordings into chapters, and until now only the first one kept its telemetry. Now the whole session uploads, chapters linked automatically and every lap timed.
