Video playback is buffering
Last updated: January 30, 2026
Buffering during playback is almost always related to your internet connection. Here's how to get smooth playback.
Common Causes
- ✓ Slow internet connection — Video streaming needs consistent bandwidth, especially for higher quality
- ✓ Using mobile data instead of WiFi — Mobile connections can be slower and less stable
- ✓ Other apps using bandwidth — Downloads, video calls, or streaming in other tabs can compete for bandwidth
Quick Solutions
Try these steps in order:
- 1. Change quality settings — Click the gear icon in the video player and select a lower quality (480p or 720p work great on slower connections)
- 2. Switch to WiFi — If you're on mobile data, connect to WiFi for better stability
- 3. Close other apps — Pause downloads, close streaming apps, and stop any background uploads
- 4. Try a different browser — Sometimes Chrome works better than Safari, or vice versa
How Our Video Player Works
We stream videos adaptively based on your connection speed. This means the player automatically adjusts quality to prevent buffering — but sometimes a manual override helps.
| Quality Setting | Recommended For |
|---|---|
| 1080p | Fast WiFi, wired connections |
| 720p | Standard WiFi, good mobile data |
| 480p | Slower WiFi, basic mobile data |
Pro tip: If you're reviewing videos on the go, 720p is the sweet spot — clear enough to see details, but light on data.
