How do leaderboards work?

Last updated: January 30, 2026

Leaderboards let you compare your best lap times with other Race Ninja users at the same track. It's a fun way to see how you stack up and find motivation to improve.

Getting on the Leaderboard

To appear on leaderboards, you need to provide some basic information about your kart or car setup:

  • Race Class: The category you're competing in (e.g., Cadet, Junior, Senior, GT3, etc.)
  • Engine: Your engine type or model
  • Chassis: Your kart chassis or car model
  • Tyres: The tyre compound you were using

Opt-in system: Leaderboards are completely optional. You choose whether to appear by providing your setup details. If you prefer to keep your results private, simply don't fill in these fields.

The Opt-In Process

When you're ready to join the leaderboards:

  1. Navigate to the Results page for an analysis
  2. Fill in the setup details (race class, engine, chassis, tyres)
  3. Save your changes
  4. Your best lap time at that track will appear on the leaderboard

You can provide these details when reviewing your analysis or add them later from your results page.

Browsing Leaderboards

Visit the Leaderboards page to explore rankings. You can filter by:

  • Track: See times for specific circuits
  • Class: Compare against drivers in the same category
  • Time Period: View all-time records or recent performances
What You'll See Details
Ranking position Your placement compared to others
Driver name Public usernames of leaderboard participants
Lap time Best recorded lap at that track
Setup details Class, engine, chassis, and tyres used
Date achieved When the lap time was recorded

Privacy and Opting Out

You're in control of your leaderboard presence:

  • Only laps with complete setup details appear on leaderboards
  • You can opt out anytime by clearing your setup details in your profile settings
  • Your username is public on leaderboards, but no other personal information is shared
  • You can update or remove individual lap entries from the leaderboard

Fair comparison: Leaderboards are organized by class and track to ensure you're comparing like-for-like. A Junior kart time won't be compared against Senior karts, for example.

Setting Personal Goals

Use leaderboards to:

  • Set realistic improvement targets based on others in your class
  • Track your progress up the rankings over time
  • Find motivation by seeing what times are possible at your track
  • Celebrate when you beat your personal best or climb the rankings

Remember: track conditions, weather, and setup variations all affect lap times. Use leaderboards as motivation, not absolute comparison - focus on improving your own times first.
