How do I compare two laps?

Last updated: January 30, 2026

The Head-to-Head tab lets you compare any two laps side-by-side with synchronized video playback and sector-by-sector time deltas. It's the fastest way to see exactly where you gained or lost time between laps.

Whether you're comparing your best lap to a slower one to see what you did differently, or stacking up against a teammate, Head-to-Head gives you the insights you need to improve.

How to Use Head-to-Head

  1. Select Your Laps: Choose any two laps from your session using the dropdown menus (you can pick your best lap vs. your worst, two different sessions, or even laps from different drivers if you're comparing with a teammate).
  2. Watch Synchronized Video: Both videos play side-by-side, perfectly synced so you can see exactly what each driver was doing at every point on track.
  3. Analyze Sector Deltas: Below the videos, you'll see time differences for each sector — green shows where you were faster, red shows where you lost time.
  4. Spot the Differences: Look for braking points, turn-in timing, throttle application, and racing lines that differ between the two laps.

Understanding Sector Deltas

Sector deltas show you the time difference between the two laps in each section of the track:

Sector Delta What It Means
Sector 1 -0.5s You were 0.5 seconds faster in this sector (green is good!)
Sector 2 +0.8s You were 0.8 seconds slower in this sector (red = time to investigate)
Sector 3 -0.1s Only 0.1 seconds faster — pretty even

💡 Pro Tip: Focus on the biggest deltas first. If you're losing 0.8s in Sector 2, that's where the most improvement potential lies. Use the synchronized video to see exactly what you did differently — maybe you braked too early, took a wider line, or got on the throttle later.

Common Use Cases

  • 🏁
Best vs. Worst Lap: See what you did right on your fastest lap and what went wrong on your slowest.
  • 🏁
Before vs. After Setup Change: Compare laps from different sessions to see if that suspension tweak actually helped.
  • 🏁
You vs. Teammate: Learn from a faster driver by comparing your laps side-by-side (if you're in the same team).
  • 🏁
Consistent vs. Inconsistent: Pick two laps with similar times to see how consistent your driving style is.

What to Look For

When watching the synchronized videos, pay attention to:

  • Braking Points: Where does each lap start braking? Even 5 meters makes a difference.
  • Turn-In Timing: When does the steering input happen? Earlier or later?
  • Apex Positioning: Are you hitting the same apex? Wider or tighter?
  • Throttle Application: When does each lap get back on the gas? Full throttle or partial?
  • Racing Line: Track position through corners — are you using all the track?

Note: Head-to-Head works best when both laps have good GPS data. If one lap is missing telemetry, you'll only see the video comparison without sector deltas.
