Lap times seem wrong
Last updated: January 30, 2026
If your lap times don't match what you expected, there are a few common reasons why. The good news? Most are easy to fix.
Common Causes
- ✓ Start/finish line needs adjustment — Our AI makes its best guess, but track layouts vary and sometimes it needs a nudge
- ✓ GPS accuracy at the track — Tall buildings, trees, or tunnel sections can affect GPS precision
- ✓ Video didn't capture a full lap — If you started recording mid-lap, the first lap time might be incomplete
How to Fix It
Adjust the start/finish line on the review page:
- 1. After uploading, you'll see the review page with the detected track layout
- 2. Drag the start/finish marker to the correct location (usually marked on the track surface)
- 3. Click "Looks Good" to reprocess with the corrected line
If lap times are consistently off by more than a few seconds even after adjusting the start/finish line, contact us. There might be a GPS accuracy issue we can help with.
GPS Accuracy Notes
GPS is accurate to within approximately 2 meters under ideal conditions. At racing speeds, this translates to timing accuracy within 0.1-0.2 seconds.
Pro tip: The more laps you record, the more accurate your average times become. Single lap outliers are normal!
