About Clay Pigeon Raceway

Located on Wardon Hill right between Yeovil and Dorchester, Clay Pigeon Raceway is a legendary fixture in British grassroots motorsport. Built in 1963 on the site of a former World War II military hospital, this 815-metre outdoor circuit is steeped in racing history—serving as the early training ground for Formula 1 stars like Jenson Button and Lando Norris.

The circuit offers 2 different track layouts ranging from 300m to 815m, with adult karts reaching 60 mph.

Tips for New Drivers

Dress for the weather. Clay Pigeon Raceway is outdoors so you'll want layers in winter and sun cream in summer. These karts are properly fast. Smooth inputs matter more than aggression here. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your session for the briefing and to get kitted out. They provide racewear, but bring your own gloves if you prefer. Closed-toe shoes are a must. Don't eat a massive meal right before racing. Trust us on this one.
