About Oakleigh East

One of Australia's premier owner-driver karting venues. It has a rich history dating back to the early 1960s and is famous as the home track where F1 superstar Oscar Piastri started his racing career. is an owner-driver club rather than a casual "arrive-and-drive" rental kart business. To practice or compete here, you must buy your own kart and hold both a valid club membership and a Karting Australia (KA) licence. Applications can be processed online via Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club Membership. It is a highly technical, clockwise bitumen track featuring sharp elevation drops, a fast straight, the challenging "corkscrew" sector, and a double-right-hander known as the "carousel". The layout rotates depending on upcoming events, switching between the Long Circuit (currently active), National Circuit, Club Circuit, and Short Circuit. The venue boasts professional multi-story race control towers, track lighting for social night practice, ample spectator viewing areas, and fully licensed clubrooms with a capacity for 120 people alongside an onsite kitchen.

Tips for New Drivers

Survive the "Corkscrew": This is Oakleigh's signature sector. It requires rapid direction changes while handling a dramatic drop in elevation. The key here is patience; forcing the kart through too fast will cause it to slide, killing your exit speed onto the back straight. Nail the "Carousel" entry: The double-right-hander requires a single, smooth geometric arc. If you turn in too early or apex twice, you will bind up the chassis and lose engine RPM.
